DOL Publishes Annual Update To Allowable Monetary Charges for Agricultural Workers' Meals and for Travel Subsistence Reimbursement

The Employment and Training Administration (ETA) of the Department of Labor (DOL) has published updates in the Federal Register to the amounts employers may charge H-2A workers for providing three meals per day and the minimum and maximum amounts for inbound and outbound travel-reimbursements.
Effective 03/24/2025, the new rates are:
Meal Charges:
The new maximum meal charge is $16.28, up from the previous maximum allowable charge of $15.88. Any meal charge above $16.28 must be petitioned for in writing and approved by the DOL.
Reimbursement for Travel-Related Subsistence:
The new minimum daily travel subsistence amount for inbound and outbound transportation is $16.28, and the maximum daily reimbursement rate is now $68.00 with receipts, up from the previous rates of $15.88 and $61.00.
Employers should begin planning immediately for the new rates.
